About Dr. Jagannathan: She received her PhD in Cell Biology from Duke University. She then did her postdoctoral training with Drs. Stephen Tapscott and Robert Bradley at the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research center, working on the role of RNA quality control in FSHD, funded by a postdoctoral fellowship from the FSH Society. Dr. Jagannathan is now continuing this research in her newly-established lab at the University of Colorado Anschutz medical campus.
About Dr. Michael (Mike) Dyle: He recently moved to Colorado to work in the laboratory of Dr. Sujatha Jagannathan. The goal of research in the lab is to identify new mechanisms that contribute to skeletal muscle deterioration in FSHD, which may expand options for treating or diagnosing the disease. Before coming to Colorado, Mike earned his PhD in Molecular Physiology at the University of Iowa where he worked with a team to discover new causes of skeletal muscle weakness and atrophy during aging, reduced activity, and malnutrition.
